The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) is the highest-ranking police officer in the police service, and he or she is in charge of the police force. IGP Usman Alkali Baba is the current Inspector General of Police. On Friday, June 4, 2021, the Police Council confirmed Alkali Usman Baba’s appointment as substantive Inspector General of Police.
