El-Rufai Second Wife: See Other Young And Famous Nigerians That Also Tried Polygamy

Published

on

The latest entrant into the realm of polygamy in Nigeria is the son of the outgoing Governor of Kaduna state, Bello El-Rufai.

Bello El-Rufai recently took a new wife in a private wedding in Abuja. Recall that in 2015, he married Kamilah. El Rufai.

Under civil law, Nigeria does not recognize polygamous unions. However, 12 out of the 36 Nigerian states recognize polygamous marriages as being equivalent to monogamous marriages. All twelve states are governed by Sharia Law.

Bello El-Rufai is a recently elected member of the House of Representatives member-elect representing Kaduna North.

However, he is not the first young Nigerian in recent time to partake in this growing trend. A number of young famous Nigerians are toeing that line.

While some religions and traditions support polygamy, the economic situation of the country makes it not a fantastic idea for many.

Nigeria is part of the “polygamy belt”, a region in West Africa and Central Africa where polygamy is common and deeply rooted in the culture.

In this article, we highlight a number of famous young Nigerians who have taken a second or more wives.
