GTB Appoints Miriam Olusanya As First Female Managing Director

Guaranty Trust Bank has announced the appointment of Miriam Olusanya as Managing Director.

Erhi Obebeduo, the company’s secretary, disclosed this in a signed notice to the Nigerian Exchange Group Limited (NGX).

Olusanya has over 20 years experience cutting across Transaction Services, Treasury, Assets and Liability Management.

Until her appointment, Olusanya, was an Executive Director at the bank.

Her appointment makes her the first female Managing Director in the bank history. She succeeds Segun Agbaje.

Agbaje revealed that GTBank was looking for its next Managing Director during the bank’s investor earnings in September.

According to him, five of the bank’s Executive Directors were in the running for the top job and were nearing the end of the hiring process.

Miriam Olusanya joined Guaranty Trust Bank in 1998 and is responsible for the bank’s foreign currency balance sheet, asset and liability position, as well as money market, foreign currency, and bond trading.

Olusanya earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Ibadan (UI) and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) (majoring in Finance and Accounting) from the University of Liverpool.

In addition, the bank announced the successful completion of its reorganization into a Holding Company Structure, which will strengthen its long-term competitiveness and growth prospects.

As part of the reorganization terms, the banking behemoth announced the formation of a new operating company called ‘Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc’ (GTCo).
