Blessing Oborodudu Wins, Guarantees Nigeria Of First Medal At The Current Olympic
On Monday, Nigeria’s Blessing Oborududu advanced to the final of the women’s 68kg freestyle wrestling event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Oborududu, a Commonwealth champion, advanced to the final of her event by defeating Mongolian bronze medalist Battsetseg Soronzonbold 7-2.
In the process, the 32-year-old became the first Nigerian athlete to reach the finals of an Olympic wrestling event.

She has won a gold medal at the African Wrestling Championships every year for the last 11 years, with the exception of 2012, when she did not compete due to her participation in the Summer Olympics.
She is the first Nigerian to compete in an Olympic wrestling final.
She will now compete in the final against Tamyra Mensah-Stock of the United States.
The Nigerian wrestler was born on March 12, 1989, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The 32-year-old Nigerian attended Nigeria Delta University and majored in Business Administration.
Wrestling was introduced to Oborodudu at St Jude’s Girls Secondary School in Yenagoa, Nigeria. Blessing Oborodudu
Her goal is to win a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
Her most memorable moment was winning gold in the 68kg weight class at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
