On Sunday, August 17th, the city of Benin came alive with elegance and festivity as family, friends, and dignitaries gathered to celebrate the 70th birthday of Mrs. Mary Egbokhan, a woman admired for her grace, faith, and substance. The event, hosted in grand style, blended glamour, tradition, and heartfelt tributes into a memorable evening. The high point came with the celebrant’s entrance. Dressed in a dazzling silver lace gown, adorned with coral beads, gold ornaments, and crowned with a majestic green headgear, Mrs. Egbokhan radiated regal elegance. Draped in richly patterned fabric, she embodied beauty and dignity, captivating all in attendance. The guest list reflected the celebrant’s wide circle of influence and love. Present at the occasion were family, friends, and well-wishers from the Obayuwana, Olaye, and Egbokhan families. Among them were Mr. Stephen Obayuwana, Dr. and Mrs. Osagie Obayuwana, and Mr. Ik Obayuwana. Also in attendance were friends and associates of the celebrant’s son, Barrister Roy Egbokhan, including members and friends of Front City and the Walk4Life family. The celebrant’s daughter, Lady Joyce Egbokhan, was also joined by her circle of friends and associates. Other distinguished guests included Engr. & Barr. Mrs. Iyomon, Mr. and Mrs. Ogunmola, members of the St. Paul Prayer Ministry Group, and members of the Jehovah’s Love Bible Church. Tributes flowed generously throughout the evening. Mr. Etiosa Olaye hailed her as a godfearing, self-sacrificing sister, while Mrs. Queen Odigie praised her kind, motherly nature. Her daughter, Lady Joyce, gave perhaps the most moving eulogy, describing her mother as prayerful, loving unconditionally, and “the epitome of self-sacrifice and compassion”: a woman whose life testifies to faith and devotion. Guests were treated to a lavish spread, lively music, and entertainment that kept the atmosphere vibrant with laughter, dancing, and camaraderie. As the celebration concluded, one truth was evident: Mrs. Mary Egbokhan was not just marking a birthday but being honored as a queen, mother, and woman of virtue whose legacy of love and faith continues to inspire.
