Late Pa Solomon Osarhieme Osahon Laid To Rest In Colourful Funeral Ceremonies
The remains of late Pa Solomon Osarhieme Osahon was laid to rest at his Benin City residence on Friday, April 8, 2022.
The respected octogenarian died on Sunday, 9th January, 2022.
Notable personalities from within and outside the country gathered at the late Pa Osahon’s home in the ancient city of Benin City, Edo State to pay their last respect.
During the series of events, high-profile personalities, church leaders, and professionals paid glowing tributes to the late Pa Osahon.
Pastor Johnpet Osagie of Rhema Grace Ministry International Inc. conducted the funeral service, which witnessed a huge crowd of mourners.
Leading the outpouring of tributes, was the eldest son, Love Aize Osahon. According to him, “Daddy was a unifier of the family. His strength exudes life.
“To lose your father, is to lose the one whose guidance and counsel you seek, who supports you like a tree trunk supports its branches”, he eulogized.
Megison Obeto, a son-in-law, extoled the virtues of Pa Osahon. According to him, his late father-in-law was not in the mold of a typical Nigerian man as he was decent, straightforward with a high sense of integrity and loyalty.
He said: “I lost a very caring father-in-law in Epa”. He was an amazing man. A man filled with so much wisdom, you would think you are having a conversation with the Biblical King Solomon, not totally surprised his name is Solomon too.
“I have had the opportunity of being around him when issues were brought to him, and he resolved the situation with very few words”, remarked Obeto.
The week-long funeral activities climaxed with a glamorous reception ceremony put together by the children and in-laws to honour the octogenarian, who died at the age of 88.
Pa Solomon Osarhieme Osahon was born on 8th October 1934 in Ekiadolor, near Benin City, Edo State.
He attended St Peter’s Primary School, Benin city which he started in 1944. From there, he proceeded in 1950, to Abbott College, Sapele in the old Midwest region of Nigeria.
During his lifetime, the late Pa Osahon worked at the Benin Area Joint Board. From there he moved to Bendel Intra-City Bus Service where he rose to the position of general manager.
The last part of his career was as a lecturer at the Institute of Continuing Education(ICE), Benin city.
The late Pa Solomon Osarhieme Osahon is survived by his wife Major (Mrs) Victoria Osahon (Rtd), six children, and 18 grandchildren.
