Okphebolo Vs Obi: Adams Oshiomhole Again Distorts Facts on Live TV
Adams Oshiomhole’s deepening reputation as a habitual liar was on full display in a recent live television interview, where he defended Okpbeholo’s recent threat against Peter Obi.
During the interview on Arise TV, Oshiomhole claimed that the hospital and nursing school to which Obi donated N15m—St. Philomena Maternity and Nursing School is “fully government-owned and funded.” That assertion is patently false.
This comes days after Mr. Okphebolo said Mr. Obi’s security would not be guaranteed if he visited Edo State without his approval.
“He (Peter Obi) cannot come to Edo without telling me. A new Sheriff is in town. His security cannot be guaranteed,” Mr Okpebholo said on July 18. “We are serious about it. Whatever happens to him when he comes to Edo State, he will take it.”
Mr. Okpebholo had cited insecurity as his reason, adding, “He came the other day and donated N15 million. By the time he left after donating the money, there was a crisis, and three people had died in Benin.”
According to Adams Oshiomhole, the hospital, St. Philomena College of Nursing Sciences, “is built, owned, equipped, and funded by the Edo State government 100%.”
He also stated that Peter Obi’s handout (to the institution) is nowhere close to what the government institutionally provides to support the institution.
St. Philomena is wholly owned and financed by the Catholic Church; it receives no state funding or oversight.
The St. Philomena College of Nursing Sciences (also known as St. Philomena School of Midwifery) in Benin City is an institution owned and administered by the Catholic Mission—through the Catholic Archbishop of the Benin Diocese, who serves as the Proprietor. The operational governance is handled day-to-day by a Principal (also a qualified Nurse/Midwifery Tutor and lawyer), under the oversight of a Reverend Father appointed by the Mission.
These lies and misinformation are considered outrageous given the fact that as a former governor of the state, Oshiomhole should know that St. Philomena Maternity and Nursing School is privately owned.
His assertion not only misattributes public ownership but also deliberately attempts to cast Peter Obi in an unfavorable light.

This is not the first time that Oshiomhole hasve been caught falsifying or fabricating information. And it doesnt appear to be the last.
This habit is consistent with a political career built on chronic distortions. As documented in JoJo Naija’s exposé “Adams Oshiomhole: A Political Career Built on Chronic Lies and Deception,” he has repeatedly manipulated facts to shape favorable narratives
Notable examples include:
In 2012, Oshiomhole erected billboards falsely suggesting that the Oba of Benin had endorsed his re‑election—an endorsement the palace promptly repudiated
In 2015, he claimed that the U.S. State Department told him a minister under President Jonathan stole $6 billion. The U.S. embassy discredited the claim entirely.
He accused Ngozi Okonjo‑Iweala of malfeasance whenever she garnered international recognition—part of a repeated pattern of smearing her reputation
Obaseki’s spokesperson even suggested that Oshiomhole’s lying may reflect pathological tendencies—mythomania characterized by compulsive deceit and contradictory statements forgotten from one day to the next
In the latest episode, Oshiomhole conflates a church‑run institution with government infrastructure, seemingly to degrade Peter Obi’s gesture and rally political advantage. This is another twist in his long-standing modus operandi: spin facts, sow confusion, and avoid accountability.
As he continues to wield influence, audiences are reminded that where Oshiomhole speaks, factual reliability goes missing.
