Where Is ’80s Musical Sensation, Felix Libarty?

Felix Liberty, also known famously known as “Lover boy”, is a singer/songwriter and record producer.

The Edo State-born pop singer was the toast of music lovers in the 80s. His music dominated the Nigerian airwave in the early to late ’80s.

Though his first release was the album “Girls For Sale”, but he achieved his breakthrough with the 1982 album, titled “Lover Boy”. The title of the album would later become his showbiz moniker.

Interestingly, some of his songs were odes to Igbo women. Some of the songs include “Ego”, “Chi-Chi”, “Ada”, “Uchenna”, Ngozi, and “Nneka”.

In the peak of his musical career, he achieved fame and fortune. He was one of the most flamboyant artistes in that era. He also loved women, and he had them in sufficient numbers.

In 1989, a decade into his career as a recording artiste, Lebarty released the album “One Life to Live”. The album featured what woud become one of his most popular song, “Ifeoma”.

In 1992, he released his final album as a secular artist. The album was titled, “419”.

Soon after, he relocated to the United States where he established a taxi company, and returned to Nigeria five years later.

Felix Lebarty, who was born into an African traditionalist family, converted to Islam at the height of his fame. He would later change his religion he became a Christian in the ’90s.

With the assistance of fellow ’80s singer-turned-preacher, Chris Okotie, Lebarty attended bible school in America. He is now the pastor of his own ministry.

Lebarty, whose father died when he was 3, is the father of 19 children by seven different women

He is now legally married to Rosemary, the mother of his first four children one of which is the fashion designer and singer, Ivie Lebarty.

The couple initially seperated following Lebarty’s numerous affairs with other women. They, however, later reunited after he discovered Christianity.

Lebarty has since expressed regret over his former lifestyle, and now preaches against polygamy and secular music.
