Sean “Diddy” Combs is currently embroiled in several sexual and physical assault scandals, which surfaced prominently in late 2023.

The most high-profile case involved Cassie (real name: Cassandra Ventura), his former girlfriend, who filed a lawsuit accusing him of years of abuse.

Cassie alleged that Diddy subjected her to physical violence, drugging, sexual coercion, and organized “freak off” parties involving multiple sex workers and drugs.

She also accused him of rape and violence, with one specific incident occurring in 2018 when she tried to leave their relationship.

Cases of sexual and phhysical assaults by black celebrities are not new. Several black celebrities have been involved in sexual abuse and scandal allegations over the years. These actions had profound impact on their careers and public perceptions.

1. Mike Tyson

In 1991, Mike Tyson was accused of raping Desiree Washington, a Miss Black America contestant.

Outcome: Tyson was convicted of rape in 1992 and served three years in prison. He continues to deny the charges.

 

2. Tupac Shakur

Rap icon Tupac Shakur was accused of sexual assault in 1993 by Ayanna Jackson. She alleged that Shakur and his associates sexually assaulted her in a hotel room.

Outcome: 2Pac was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse and served nine months in prison. He consistently denied the charges, claiming the encounter was consensual.

3. Chris Brown

In 2009, Chris Brown was arrested for physically assaulting his then-girlfriend, Rihanna. Since then, Brown has faced additional legal issues, including accusations of sexual assault.

In 2019, another woman in Paris accused him of rape, though the charges were later dropped.

Outcome: Brown completed community service and probation for his assault on Rihanna.

4. Trey Songz

Singer Trey Songz has been accused multiple times of sexual misconduct. In 2017, actress Keke Palmer accused him of sexual intimidation, while in 2021, a woman sued him for sexual assault in a nightclub.

7. R. Kelly

His sexual abuse of underage girls has spanned decades.  The first major allegations surfaced in the early 2000s when a video showing Kelly with a minor led to charges of child pornography. More recently, the documentry”Surviving R. Kelly” brought dozens of women forward, accusing him of sexual abuse, kidnapping, and trafficking. In 2002, he was charged with child pornography but acquitted in 2008. In 2019, he was arrested on federal charges for sex trafficking.

Outcome: He was convicted in 2021 for racketeering and sex trafficking. R.Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2022.

8. Bill Cosby

Over 60 women accused Bill Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting them over decades. These cases date back to the 1960s. His once wholesome image as “America’s Dad” crumbled as more women came forward. Some his accusers include models and actresses like Janice Dickinson, Beverly Johnson, Andrea Constand, and many others.

Outcome: In 2018, Bill Cosby  was convicted for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand. He was released in 2021 after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his conviction on procedural grounds.

 

9. Tiger Woods

While Tiger Woods has not faced allegations of sexual abuse, his 2009 extramarital affair scandal involved numerous women including Rachel Uchitel coming forward to claim sexual relationships with him while he was married.

10. Michael Jackson
