This happened at the main event of UFC 271 on Saturday night at Toyota Center. Israel Adesanya Defeats Whittaker
Adesanya defeated Whittaker by unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 49-46) at the epic re-match.
Regardless of the outcome, the fight more than lived up to the anticipation. At the conclusion, the two embraced and hoisted each other’s hands into the air.
With the exception of the first round, which plainly favours the champion, you could make a case for either the champion or the underdog the rest of the way.
Whittaker only needed one more round on two of the judges’ scorecards to recapture his title. This was as the judges’ scorecards read 48-47, 48-47, 49-46.

Adesanya did actually leave the Octagon with his middleweight title, countering Whittaker’s boxing with his length and reach.
The fight was not the same as the one between the two in 2019, when Whittaker left himself open early and was knocked out in the second round.
“I knew he was going to bring everything because last time I took everything away from him,” Adesanya said after the win.
“So he had nothing to lose. As I said, I’m the champ, if you want it, come get it.” Israel Adesanya Defeats Whittaker
You don’t always get flawless endings. However, this rematch was as much about going the distance as it was about winning. It was evidenced by Whittaker’s smile even after the results were announced.
