It is no more news that women are beginning to dominate professions which had been restricted to the male gender.F

Not only have they proven to be indispensable in their chosen field of career, women have shown to the world that they have a shepherd heart, caring for the church.

In Nigeria, many women have risen up and many are still coming up to become head pastors or “General Overseers (GO)” in churches in different part of the country.

In today’s article, we would be briefly looking at ten (10) female pastors in Nigeria who have blazed the trail for upcoming younger generation.

Quickly, let’s delve in to see women who have given their heart to God and determined to fulfil God’s calling upon their lives.

 

Margaret Idahosa

Being a woman of legendary virtues is no small feat. Archbishop Margaret doubles as both a mother and a shepherd of many in various Christian organizations.

Margaret Idahosa, the wife of the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa, is the first female Archbishop in Africa. F

Idahosa equally shows herself as a notable icon in the academics, as she is the Chancellor at Benson Idahosa University(BIU), Benin, Edo State.

Bishop Margaret has continued to bless people lives through the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and is a mother to many spiritual children all over the world.

She currently presides over the Church of God Mission International with its headquarters in Benin-City, Edo State.

 

Bola Odeleke

Ever heard of the first woman to become a bishop in Africa? Bishop Bola is the rare gem God has placed in this humble position.

Bola, who hails from Ibadan, Oyo State, entered the ministry in 1974. She was ordained as a bishop on May 28, 1995. Thus, she became the first African woman to become a bishop.

She is the general overseer of Power Pentecostal Church.

 

Helen Ukpabio

Born in Imo State, South-eastern part of Nigeria, Rev. Helen Ukpabio has shown exceptional power of God available to willing people.

Ukpabio is not only gifted as a deliverance minister, but also doubles as a Nollywood actress where she often acts as a minister of God.

Helen Ukpabio is the founder and head of African Evangelical franchise Liberty Foundation Gospel Ministries based in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria.

 

 

 

Esther Ajayi

Rev. Esther Ajayi is the founder of C & S (Iya Adura) London’s Love of Christ Generation Church (Worldwide).

The 58-year old indigene of Lagos state is a perfect definition of a philanthropist. Through her ministry and humanitarian foundation, she has touched and changed many lives.

Ajayi  supports grassroots initiative and has been a financial supporter for several Christian and Charity organizations.

Superior Reverend Mother Esther Ajayi completed and dedicated a beautiful cathedral church in Lekki, Lagos in 2021.

 

Tope Ogunnoiki

The pleasant smile of Rev Tope Ogunnoiki will naturally draw your attention towards her. Having received God’s call upon her life, she took the bull by the horn and started out in Lagos.

Tope Ogunnoiki is the presiding minister of Grace Ville Chapel International in Ikeja, Lagos.

After renting different venues for conducting their services, Grace Ville Chapel  moved to their permanent site in 2015 located at Ikeja.

Rev Ogunnoiki continues to preach the word of God from a deep understanding of the same and has thus blessed everyone around her.

 

Funke Adetuberu

Mary Olubori

Prophetess Mary Olubori is one of the leading prophetesses in Nigeria.

She and her husband, Pastor Israel Ayanfe Olubori, co-run the Rock of Salvation Apostolic Church (ROSAC Worldwide) and Havilah Mountain of Fire, at Amuloko-Akanra Road, Off Lagos Ibadan Expressway, Ibadan.

Nkechi Iloputaife
