Prices Of Happiness

“Money can’t buy you happiness”, some may say.

However, if you disagree, how much money would you need to make you to be happy?

Surely, a few more Dollars would undoubtedly make life a little bit easier and allow us all to live a little bit happier.

Well, researchers at Purdue University have gone out to find out how much annual income citizens of different countries need to for them to be happy.  In the final report, 173 countries, across different regions, were captured.

According to the research, Iran has the highest cost of happiness in the world. It tops the list with its people needing a salary of nearly $239,700US (£200,000) to be satisfied, the survey revealed.

Yemen is ranked second ($172,140/£137,817), followed by Australia, whose citizens need a princely sum of $121,191 (£97,026) to be happy.

Sierra Leone came in last on the list, on the other extreme of the scale. Only $8,658 (£6,931) a year is required for the citizen of the West African  country to be content. In other words, Sierra Leone is the country where happiness is cheapest.

Just behind Sierra Leone is Suriname where a yearly income of $10,255 (£8,210) will keep misery at bay most efficiently followed by Madagascar ($11,355/£9,090).
