Monday Okpebholo: 15 Things You May Not Know About Edo Governor-Elect
Monday Okpebholo was officially declared the winner of the Edo State governorship election on Sunday.
Prof. Faruq Adamu Kuta, vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, made the announcement at the INEC collation center in Benin City.
According to the votes collated, Okpebholo secured a total of 291,667 votes winning 11 out of 18 Local government areas ( LGA) in the state.
Monday Okpebholo is the center of attention as Edo State prepares for this fresh chapter in its history.
Here are 15 things to know about the Edo State governor-elect.
- Okpebholo was born in Uromi, Edo State, on 29 August 1970.
- Okpebholo is also known by the sobriquet “Akpakomiza”.
- He is from Udomi community in Uwessan-Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area.
- He was born to the family of the late Chief and Mrs. Peter Okpebholo of Udomi community in Uwessan-Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area.
- His father hailed from Udomi community in Uwesan-Irrua, Esan Central LGA, while the mother was a native of Ikekiala community in Eguare-Uromi, Esan North East LGA.

- He attended Udomi Community Primary School and Ujabhole Community Secondary School, respectively, in Uwesan-Irrua, Esan Central LGA. He completed his secondary education and obtained his senior school certificate in Jos, Plateau State.
7. Okpebholo is a businessman who has made a variety of investments in sectors that includes construction, hospitality, agricultural, Information and Communications Technology and oil and gas.
- Okpebholo obtained a degree in Business Administration from the University of Abuja. He furthered his education and obtained a Master’s degree in Policy and Leadership Studies at the same UniAbuja.
- Okpebholo is an entrepreneur with investments in hospitality, construction, oil and gas, and Information and Communications Technology.
- Senator Okpebholo founded a company, Chapman Computers Limited. The company is based in Jos, Plateau State. He later established another firm, Interweb Satcom Limited, a major industry player in broadband sales and development.
- Okpebholo won the Edo Central Senatorial District seat under the All Progressives Congress on 25 February 2023, breaking the 24-year rule of the Peoples Democratic Party in the zone.
- On 13 June 2023, he was inaugurated as the Senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly and chaired the Senate Committee on Public Procurement.
- On 23 February 2024, Okpebholo was declared the APC governorship primary election winner in Edo State.
14. Akpakomza is a Christian and participates actively at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
- He is married to Mrs Blessing Okpapi Okpebholo and they are blessed with 2 children.
