Onyekwe Family Buries Mother In Glitz & Glamour (PHOTOS)

The Director-General of the Delta State Multi-Door Courthouse, Barrister Nnamdi Onyekwe, alongside his siblings, on Friday, laid to eternal rest, his mother, late Mrs. Martina Azuamaka Onyekwe.

The events took place at Ogbe-Obi-Ezi community, in Aniocha Local Government Area of Delta State.

The series of activities, which left the whole of Ezi community agog, was one befitting of a royalty.

There, dignitaries from within and outside Delta State joined the Onyekwe family to bid Ma Onyekwe goodnight.

The week-long burial ceremonies for the late matriarch of the Onyekwe family, officially commenced on Thursday, November 30 with a Vigil Mass/Wake. This was held at the Onyekwe family compound in Ahaba Quarters, in the Ogbe-Obi-Ezi community.

A burial service was held at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Ezi on Friday, December 1, before her remains were interred.

During the service, the officiating cleric extolled the rare virtues of the late Ma Onyekwe.

The church service was followed by an highly emotional Interment at the Dumme Family Compound, Ogbe-Aku Quarters, Ezi.

A spectacular and exquisite reception followed at St Andrew’s Primary School, Ogbe-Obi Village, Ezi.

The event organizers ensured that every aspect of the party reflected top-notch quality and taste; from the resplendent marquee, to the colourful decorations, well-designed banners, sumptuous meals (both local and continental dishes), drinks, and souvenirs.

The classy event paraded traditional rulers, political icons, government officials, business moguls, family and friends and a host of other personalities across the nation who came to bid farewell to late Ma Onyekwe.

Ezinne (Mrs) Martina Azuamaka Onyekwe died on September 21 at the age of 81.

Until her death, the late Mrs. Onyekwe dedicated herself to St. Vincent Family Services, also known as Operation Breakthrough, in Kansas City, Missouri, USA, from 1997 until her retirement in 2008.

She is survived by nine children; a sibling, 28 Grandchildren, Sons, and Daughters-in-law; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Her children include; Dr. Ebele Umoye, a Professor of Nursing; Mrs. Joy Nneka Eke, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; and Barrister Nnamdi Onyekwe, the Director-General of the Delta State Multidoor Courthouse.

Others include Barrister Margaret (Meg) Unodinma Onyekwe Barrister-at-Law (Nigeria) & Assistant Clinical Professor of Nursing (USA); Dr. Martina Tudeme, a Dentist and Implant Surgeon; Mrs. Nkechi Omozeje, a Chartered Accountant, Cybersecurity Auditor, and Business Professional; Dr. Ifeanyi Onyekwe, Dentist & Medical Doctor; Mr. Oge Onyekwe, Engineer and Cybersecurity expert and Mrs. Ogochukwu Benye, Computer Information Systems Analyst and Nurse Care Manager.
