Most people obtain a doctorate in order to further their personal or professional ambitions.
A doctorate or a PhD can be obtained through academic work or by being granted to someone by the instititution that awards it.
An individual can be honoured with a doctorate when a university wishes to formally recognize the individual’s contributions to a particular field or philanthropic efforts. To achieve that, the institution waives the usual requirements for granting the degree.
Having a doctorate degree is one of the most esteemed achievments. It comes with the added perk of having the prefix “Dr.” before your name.

The Nigerian Socialite, Pretty Mike, bagged a Doctor of Science degree in Business Management from the European American University, Republic of Panama.
Helen Paul
In 2019, Helen Paul, the comedian, singer and actress obtained an academic doctorate in Theater Arts from the University of Lagos. In 2022, she was announced as a Professor and the HOD of the Arts, Music, and Entertainment department at Heart International University in the United States.

Nollywood star, Mike Ezuruonye has an honorary doctorate degree in Arts and Literature from Estam University in Benin Republic.
Peter Okoye a.k.a Mr P
